Why Vulnerability Matters

I recently watched Brené Brown’s Netflix special ‘The Call To Courage’. It was so good, I laughed and shed some tears too. This woman is exceptional! One sentence really stood out for me: ‘Vulnerability is not winning or losing; it’s having the courage to show up and be seen when we have no control over the outcome.’

First of all, if you haven’t watched it yet, I highly recommend you give it a try. Brené Brown is a fantastic author, researcher and storyteller. She has dedicated her life to shedding light on the power of vulnerability and her insights are so valuable.

With the rise of social media, we tend to avoid sharing our ‘lows’, portraying the image that we think highlights our best. When we are open to change and shift our perspective, we understand that when we speak from a place of authenticity and vulnerability, we connect with other people on a deeper lever. We’re all the same. Sharing what makes us human is helping us and helping others to embrace who they truly are. Make this sentence by Brené Brown your mantra for the day: Today I will choose courage over comfort. I can’t make any promises for tomorrow, but today I will choose to be brave.
