We spend most of our time staring at a screen that we forget to take the time to truly connect with people. We neglect the fact that being present for someone doesn’t mean sending them a text message with a smiley face that says ‘Hey come on, cheer up!’
When you struggle to hold back the tears from dropping, all you need by your side is a presence, a hand to hold on to, a shoulder to lean on. You don’t wanna talk, you just need another breath to listen to when you have trouble catching yours. Another heartbeat to reassure you, that you are here , you are alive and that everything is going to be okay.
If you’re reading this today, take the time to check on your friends (or the person sitting next to you!) Be present for them. Hug them and whisper softly in their ears:
You are not broken. You matter. I see you and I care.
